A DAY OF HEALING
Program
MORNING: Denise Maile will guide participants through the gentle and restorative practice of Qigong.
AFTERNOON: Geshe Nyima will offer a basic introduction to Tibetan medicine and its holistic approach to health and well-being.
Denise Maile has been studying and sharing the benefits of Qigong for over 40 years. Rooted in a 5,000-year-old tradition, Qigong combines gentle flowing movements, breath awareness, posture, and focused intention to support balance and vitality in body and mind. Often described as “moving meditation,” Qigong is practiced to help reduce stress, improve circulation and flexibility, strengthen the body’s natural healing abilities, and cultivate inner calm and mental clarity.
This introductory session is suitable for all ages and abilities and will include simple exercises that can be easily continued at home as part of a daily wellness practice.
Participants will explore how mindful movement and breathing can help
- restore energy
- release tension
- create a deeper sense of peace and well-being.

Geshe Nyima (Menpa Nyima) was born into a farming family in the Amdo region of northeastern Tibet. In 1999, he went to Nepal and joined Triten Norbutse Monastery, where he studied Tibetan philosophy and psychology for 16 years under his root master, Yongdzin Lopon Tenzin Namdak Rinpoche, along with other respected teachers.
In 2015, he received his Geshe degree, the equivalent of a PhD in Tibetan philosophy. He then continued his studies in traditional Tibetan medicine (Sowa Rigpa) at the School of Four Medical Sciences of the Early Tradition, completing four years of medical training.
Alongside his studies, Geshe Nyima taught young students Tibetan philosophy and Sowa Rigpa. He also studied acupuncture and palmistry with Dr. Tokmy and Dr. Pasang in India.
Geshe Nyima has recently returned from a year of training with a master Tibetan doctor in Edmonton and will be sharing some of the basic principles and foundations of Tibetan medicine. His afternoon presentation will introduce traditional Tibetan perspectives on health, balance, and healing practices, offering insight into one of the world’s oldest holistic medical systems.
