Geshe YongDong Introduces you to Dzogchen
A Silent Meditation Retreat at the Hermitage on Denman Island
June 14-19, 2019
This silent retreat in a beautiful natural setting provides an introduction to Dzogchen meditation, including practices that involve breathing techniques and physical exercises leading to emotional relaxation and mental stability, increasing happiness, health and general well-being. The ultimate focus of Dzogchen is on gaining direct insight into the nature of one’s mind and ultimately, through knowing the mind—self-realization. Geshe YongDong will teach and guide students with practice on the Five-Fold Teaching of Dawa Gyaltsen which summarizes the Dzogchen view:
Day 1 – Vision is Mind
Day 2 – Mind is Empty
Day 3 – Emptiness is Clear Light
Day 4 – Clear Light is Union
Day 5 – Union is Great Bliss.
Geshe YongDong, a learned Lama in the Bon tradition, is popular with his Western students for his very warm and approachable teaching style, his excellent command of English, and his strong non-sectarian view.
Students will have opportunities for questions and answers, discussion, and personal meetings with Geshe- La. Charming and humble, Geshe-la is very highly knowledgeable and has practical experience in the teachings, yoga and meditation practices of all schools of Tibetan Buddhism – Bon, Nyingma, Ka’gyu, Sakya and Gelugpa.
